Three plus three

When it comes to blog readers, I have been lucky. In my three years* online, I have only deleted a handful of comments (not including spam, of course). It basically comes down to two people, instantly recognizable to me. One is just plain sick. The other is more of an anal case, correcting my phrasing and chastising me for asking to get paid for my labour, in the specific case of Superkilen. Mr. Anonymous (I am pretty sure it is a "he"), is convinced that I weed out comments that don't agree with me. Hahaha. He just rubs me the wrong way, you know? Why should I invite him in to crap on my carpet? I think not.

But, to be clear: the way I see things, is that it would be boring if we all agreed on everything always. I don't mind at all that you don't agree with me on things like for instance the metro/construction mess and graffiti painted vans. That is okay, we can still be friends. I know that you know that already, I just felt like saying it anyway.

Luk

LUK / Shut it (hahaha)

Hugs and a happy Sunday to you!

*Whoa: missed the big three year anniversary by three days.. hey, who's counting, right?

  1. What a nice post. I agree with 'not always agreeing' with someone (yes, I need a Thesaurus :) but on the other hand, there is such thing as constructive criticism. People just find it so easy to hide behind the Anon persona, and that's a shame. Love your blog btw, I've been following you for quite a while but never commented before. I guess this post is quite fitting for a first comment. :) x

    1. Ah, thank you for the nice first comment! :-)

I also don't mind the concept of anonymity, mostly it is just a matter of readers not having a profile online. You shouldn't need one to comment on a blog, I think. It only gets hairy when the trolls come out, and they will be the first to call others cowards. That is irony for you, haha.

  3. Hej Sandra! Your space... your rules! Even if you did weed out comments, so what? Anonymous doesn't have to post on your page if it is so offensive to him/her. Get your own frigg'n page, if you want to be in charge! I think of your site as an invite to come over for coffee. If I was obnoxious in my opinions, then det er ikke saa hyggeligt (= I would no longer be welcome chez Sandra). If I had enough discipline to keep my blog going then it would be a little like my house- my rules ;) Luk! Have a great day!

    1. Hahaha Celena, well put! I totally feel like this is my house, and you are great company. Maybe that is why I am extra happy that I don't seem to attract a large number of creeps. Also, I would never allow anyone to be rude to my friends, if you can't play nice, you are not invited to the party.

Sandra's house rules, haha. Oh, I'm still laughing. This is my favorite part of blogging. :-)

  5. Don't let those few posting negative comments get you down - I really enjoy your blog and have been meaning to say so for ages.

I lived in KBH a long time ago and miss it heaps - but your blog brings me closer to the KBH I remember and love. Please don't stop :-)

    1. Hi Meg, it is so cosy to hear from you. The very few stupid comments don't discourage me at all, I have been lucky to have almost only nice readers. And I love this too much to stop, but sometimes, like when the dungeon eats at me, you may have to wait a little longer between the contributions. :-)

  6. Perfect. I'm getting really good at writing snarky comments back to people who come to my blog simply to yell at me :) It's nice, because they usually don't have any kind of coherent or well-thought-out argument, they are just there to vent some frustration that probably doesn't have anything directly to do with you anyway.

Those people can just go be angry at the world somewhere else.

    1. But at least you give them the space to vent, that is very generous of you. I am not so forgiving, haha.

    2. Depends on the content of the venting... Occasionally I will delete a comment :)

    4. Hah! Sometimes it is fun to play with the crazies, like this: http://portlandize.com/2012/08/unintended-side-effects/#comment-646427292

      Get a little pent-up frustration out :)
