Liberation day

For the past few days I have passed this incredible eye sore on my favorite Copenhagen bridge. Another serious litter situation, rows of this crap:

Eye sore

I wrote to ask them if they had actually paid someone to get a permission for that mess (not that it would make any difference, mind you, I was just curious), or they had just taken the liberty of destroying the most beautiful view in Copenhagen, to push a product. No answer. Well, you know how I feel about litter on the bridge.

Garbage

Garbage goes in the garbage can.

Litter free bridge

Liberated!

Thor is actually more p'd off that HBO would descreate Absalon's city. Bravo Sandra!

    3. I know, where is the respect? Actually I believe I read somewhere that they have found proof that Copenhagen was a busy city at least a couple of hundred years before Absalon was around. They have been digging around Town Hall Square, for the new metro line, and they have uncovered lots of interesting things.

I have to look into that some time. :-)

  5. I moved to CPH in December and I have enjoyed reading your blog. I thought the cup holder initiative was a terrific solution that should be adopted alongside all trashcans in the city. I can't tell you how annoyed I get at all the cigarette buts, broken glass and trash littered through the city. It's like people forget that picking up after yourself is an important part of living in society. No one wants to walk through other people's trash. Looking forward to future posts- If you have a creative solution for cigarette butts, maybe you can pitch it to the government! The streets are overflowing.

    1. The city has a plan for the butt situation, inviting people to come up with a design. The idea is that you support a charity with your butt, and this will be sponsored by different companies. As I understand it.

This was one of my ideas for collecting the butts, and now that it is already in the works, I am not as exited to come up with a shape for the device. The idea is the fun part. And I have other (possible) butt solving ideas.

The litter situation here is out of control, and in certain areas like The Kings Garden (causing the aggressive seagull situation, yikes). I don't know why people don't pick up after themselves, it is so frustrating. The cup litter problem is not everywhere, so tubes on every single trashcan would perhaps be overkill, but they are much needed in several areas, scattered all over Copenhagen.

    1. Netflix has HBO, I think? I don't own a TV anymore (ah, the hours of my life wasted on that thing.. now the computer has taken its place, haha), so I am not sure how they access it all.

These ugly signs were strapped to landmarks all over town, but I am only responsible for the bridge. :D
