It's a love thing

Fall is a sexy time a year, with plenty of built in drama and romance in the winds, the colors and the bright sun. Sure it’s cold, but as long as the sun is out, it is pretty fantastic. The best part is we get to dress for it, even the houses are on board. My favorite thing about this, is what is left out: the ugly advertising banners, high praise to the restraint of these guys!

Crutches for the balcony. We all need a bit of support once in a while.

Menneske toilet / Human toilet

Menneske toilet / human toilet. Spotted in the People's Park, where a lot of homeless people hang out, this is probably someone's attempt to highlight the problem. I like this way of communicating, it is honest.

Street nipple

A street nipple! We don't see enough of those around.

Fall

Classic Copenhagen fall, lakeside chestnut trees, old Copenhagen street lamp and all. I love this city so much.

  1. My mood changes so much when Autumn arrives every year. I love it. Even when we have dumping rain outside, I have so much more energy and desire to get out of the apartment and go do something than I do during the summer. Then you have all the beautiful colors, and as you said, the clothes!

Sweaters, coats, scarves, gloves, hats, boots. There is so much more opportunity for being creative than when you'd honestly rather have nothing on (due to the heat), but that isn't really socially acceptable.

What is that 'street nipple'? I mean, does it serve some purpose, or was it just put there by someone for fun? :)

    1. Haha, I just named it a street nipple because it reminds me of one. Maybe someone painted it on, to make it look pretty? Maybe it is a roadworkers secret sign? Not so important to me, knowing exactly. But I would like to see more. Or make them. :D

The dress up part is also one of my favorite things about fall. And the way my winter clothes all of a sudden look new again. For all about two weeks.

    2. But there's that little brass circle there, which looks like it's embedded in the concrete - I wonder why it's there in the first place :)

For me, my winter clothes never get old. I love the cold weather, and I wish it was colder here (it rarely goes below freezing, so it's just cold and wet all winter, almost no snow ever). I'm weird, I know :) I do also love those bright, sunny days in Autumn and Winter, when the sun is bright and the air is crisp and makes your breath stand out. I really miss those days from Vilnius, because there, all the trees would be frozen solid, and would sparkle like diamonds.

Oh, and also, the food! Soups, stews, casseroles, melted cheese, Japanese hot pot, winter squash, curry, potatoes, apples, pears. Mmmm.

    3. You are a closet European, haha. The brass part came first, I have seen it before. Maybe it is for the blind? I need to look into that (and now you made me hungry, thanks).

    4. I'm good at making people hungry (including myself) :) I could really go for some meatballs with cream sauce and boiled potatoes with dill right now!

    5. The brass point may be for topographical surveys. It's called a "hard point" in French, I have no clue in English (eller Dansk). But street nipple is good too :-)

These kind of points are normally scattered all over the city.

And it's good I'm checking the comments after lunch, hehe. Love autumn too, particularly in Denmark. Who want's warmth and sun all year round? Seasons are the best!

    6. We'll just rename it street nipple then, ha!

Cut flowers and candlelights are back, mmm. It's cosy season. : )

    7. Yes, candlelight! I've been using a candle again in the mornings while I'm getting ready for work, shaving, etc. I like it so much better than electric light - and soon we'll be using our oil lamps in the evenings too! (yes, I realize I sound like I'm 100 yrs old)

  4. PS: craving anything with a dill sauce is definitely a sign of a closet Scandinavian ;)

    1. I remember in Lithuania, anytime you had boiled potatoes they had dill sprinkled on them. But yes, herring in dill sauce - I will eat my weight of it :)
